Finest quality handmade Lokta paper and products

All our handmade paper is made by traditional methods from the inner bark of the Daphne Bush, locally known as Locka. The Daphne Bush is found at an altitude of 6500 ft to 11000 ft above sea level in the area bordering the Himalayan region of Nepal. The Bush has the unique characteristic of regenerating every 3 to 4 years after being cut down. Thus it allows the fragile forest ecology of Nepal to be preserved.

Paper being dried

This paper is manufactured from a sustainable managed forest. The main object of our company is to improve the standard of living in rural and urban areas for low income Nepalese families by providing them with employment and to preserve traditional paper making techniques handed down by generations of
family artisans.

Salient Features of the Handmade paper:

The paper is fine textured, strong, warm, resistant and durable. The tough but attractive edge of the paper sheet is a main feature of this handmade paper. In ancient times the paper was used for writing the 'Mantra', 'Sutra' and Buddhist epics, but in the present day the paper is also used for making standard gift items. Because of all these features handmade paper is praised and appreciated by all the users of these products.
